The Christmas tree outside the Congress Theatre always looks a little different to others around the town, that it because it is a special tree, a “Tree of Light” covered in a host of white lights and dressed with white ribbons in memory of loved ones.
December 2016 was the 17th year that a tree has been erected by Rotary in Eastbourne and it brought comfort to families and individuals throughout the area as well as raising money for local charities. The tree is not just about raising money but giving service to the people of Eastbourne, a beautiful tree and a special place to come and remember someone special.
Each person dedicating a light is invited to write a message which is put in a book of remembrance and placed in Eastbourne Library for people to view through the year or on this website set up to support the tree.
The Tree of light event for 2017 will be on the 10th December, 4.00pm at the Towner Art Gallery. We need sponsors for the event so if you think you would like your business to support this worthy cause for as little as £250, please contact us. We also need dedications so we encourage you to send your dedications either via the website below, the leaflets which will be distributed nearer the time or on the day itself
