Yet another great evening, with some 100 people looking forward to an evening of fun, fellowship and fund raising at our 3rd Race and Casino Night on Friday 2nd October at The Cumberland Hotel.

There were 7 horse races with all but 1 of 56 horses sold.

The betting was fast and furious and the excitement during each race rose to much shouting and cheering.

The 7 horses for race 8 were auctioned by Chris Purcell, ably supported by Fred Cox, the bids rose to very acceptable offers with horse 7 ending in a bidding battle between 2 of the lift companies, eventually Kollmorgen won the day with a bid of £250.00, unfortunately their horse did not win, but as their Lionel said, the money was going to a very good cause, and that is what the whole event was for.

The casino tables did a roaring trade, Fred Cox selling “fun money” to anybody who stood still too long.

I would like to thank the AM “team” for their dogged determination in arranging the evening, all AM members who were able to attend along with friends and colleagues and a particular thanks to all the sponsors.
